WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL

COMBER GROVE MEETS THE MUSICIANS!

We meet the

LONDON CHAMBER GROUP

Recently, the London Chamber Group came to our school to play to us.

The group was utterly amazed to find that nearly all of our Key Stage 2 children play at least one musical instrument, and some play three!

They played a wide variety of music to us for about forty five minutes.

In chamber music, a tune is passed from one instrument to another. Children stood behind the players, and had to recognise when their player had the tune.

Children who don't play stringed instruments were invited to learn a tune in thirty seconds! The tune was played on an'open' string, which is a string without any fingers on it.

A number of our children learn to play the cello, and we have an excellent strings group in school. During the concert by the London Chamber Group, children who don't usually play the cello were given the chance to have a go.

After the concert, our children wrote letters of appreciation to the Group... on the backs of cardboard stringed instruments they had designed!
