WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL

OUR 'CHILDREN'S OWN' PAGE

This page is for our children to post something they would like other children to read or see.

Hi, my name is Lucas and Sir said my piece of writing for the SATS was really good. He said I should put it on the website. So I have.

MY FAVOURITE MEAL

My favourite meal is Spag Bol. It's so delicious I have trouble describing it. I never have to eat out because my Mum makes the best in the world. The spaghetti and the sauce were made for each other like Romeo and Juliet! They go so well together.

In the sauce there are vegetables and meat. One day I want to learn to cook like Mum. When you eat it you can never ever stop.

The aroma, the taste, the succulence, the bilss, the happiness. All of this in just one bowl, one simple, easy to make and above all delicious bowl. You have to get the presenting just right. First you get the tangleing Medusa of spaghetti: but then the quantity of sauce must be just right.

This dish is lovely and is definitely my favourite meal ever. You might just be in heaven! Mmmmmm!

BABA YAGA

Hello! My name is Ruth. I love writing and I am in 'Jill?s Writers'. Jill helps edit FRIDAY magazine in the TES and we work with her sometimes. Mr Kent says I am a really good writer and I should put a piece of my writing on the website, so I've chosen this little bit.

Our class read the story of Baba Yaga's daughter. Then we wrote our own version, but stopped at a very exciting part. Perhaps you can put an ending to my story?

Baba Yaga's Daughter

Once upon a time, there was a girl called Vasil. Her mother had died and her father had remarried, so Vasil had two stepsisters. They were very horrible stepsisters, and they hated Vasil because she was pretty, she was obedient, and her father loved her more. She was skilful.

One night, when their father was away on business, the stepmother decided to go to the harvest festival. She gave them each a job to do. The first sister had to make lace. The second sister had to knit. Vasil had to spin. The stepmother put out all the lights and fires and left only one candle burning. Secretly, she told the stepsisters to blow it out when she had gone.

As soon as the stepmother was on her way, the stepsisters blew out the candle.

'How can we do our jobs when we have no light?' cried Vasil 'I can knit in the dark,' teased one sister.

'I can see because my needles glow,' lied the other.

'But you can't, can you?' sniggered the first.

'You must go to Baba Yaga and get a light,' cackled the second.

The sisters threw Vasil out of the house.Baba Yaga was the witch who lived in the forest. She ate men as if they were chickens with her iron teeth. She flew over the forest in a pestle and mortar. She had eyes like red hot coals. She had a nose so big it touched the ceiling.

Vasil walked through the forest. A knight on a horse passed her. He was dressed all in white, and his horse was white. As he passed, the woods became brighter.

Vasil then passed by another knight on horseback. He was dressed in red, and his horse was red. As he passed, the sun rose.

A third knight passed Vasil. He was dressed all in black, and his horse was black. As he passed, night fell. Eventually, Vasil came to Baba Yaga`s house. The hut was surrounded by a fence made of human bones. Vasil pushed open the gate and went into the yard. The gate was made out of bones too, feet, legs, arms, hands, skulls and mouths with sharp teeth.

'I have been sent to get a little fire. Would you stop turning around!' said Vasil, for the hut was standing on a cockerels legs and was spinning round and round. But when she said this, the hut stood still and a door opened. Standing in the doorway was a girl.

'Come in, come in' the girl cried. 'I have no company here and I spend my days alone. You can stay as long as you like, except when my mother is in. as for your fire, we will think what to do. But if my mother finds you here, she will eat you.'

Vasil went into Baba Yaga`s hut with her daughter and they sewed, knitted, talked, laughed and combed each others hair.

Suddenly they heard Baba Yaga returning. In the blink of an eye, Baba Yaga`s daughter turned Vasil into a needle and stuck her into a broom. Then Baba Yaga came in.

'Tell me child',she croaked 'Why can I smell human bones?'
