POETRY WEEK

Everybody looks forward to POETRY WEEK in the Spring term.

Every child is involved. Each class performs a poem, and we also have poetry from teachers, governors, parents, teaching assistants and individual children. Lots of children write their own poems too. It's a lot of fun.

In this photograph you can see Class 7 performing their poem called 'WALKING MY IGUANA'. Class 7 are a Year 3 group of children. This was a very amusing poem done to a rhythmic rap. Aaron had to take great care with his tail... it showed a tendency to drop off!

Class 2 performed a poem called 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear'. They are a Reception class and they spoke up beautifully. The poem tells of all the creatures Brown Bear meets on his travels. The children had made some very colourful masks, too.

Here are the Under Fives children performing their poem, which was called 'WHO STOLE THE COOKIE?'. This was a very funny poem which had lots of counting in it too! They made some colourful objects to illustrate their poem, too.

Lots of children performed poems on their own, or with a small group of friends. Often, they had written the poems themselves. They had to read them loudly and clearly so that everyone in the hall could hear them. Here are two children in Year 3 reading 'CHILDREN'

Here is Andre. He's in Year 3 and he is an expert drummer. He kept the rhythm in the poem performed by a Year 3 class.

He's only 7 but he looks much older here, especially in his shades!
