SCHOOL JOURNEY THIS YEAR

School Journey

at

Gilwell

Park

Gilwell Park is at Epping Forest and the journey tires you out! The dormatories were comfortable and spacious, but no TV! Midnight walking was good, especially when we saw all the lights of London beaming at us. It was really worth the long walk!

I enjoyed the Gilwell Park trip because of the activities. I really enjoyed the rock climbing, the revolving wall and the canoeing.

I really liked the food... it was fantastic!

I also really liked the revolving wall because you had to climb while it was moving. I managed to stay on.

My best part of staying at Gilwell Park was doing canoeing, and rafting with the boats. I had to run from the first boat to the tenth boat and I fell in at number 3, then the lifeguard pulled me out with a rope. After I fell inside he said 'Do you want to go in the boat again?' and I said 'Yes'. Then I slipped and hurt my butt so after that I was soaking wet.

I liked doing rock climbing, crate stacking, revolving wall and swimming. It was scary at first, then a second later I was not scared then I got used to it. The things I was not good at were the archery, canoeing because I can't swim and at archery I kept hitting it on the floor. The thing I was scared of was the night time, and I kept waking Sherane up, and I liked eating the marshmallows. I did like playing the games in the dark.

At Gilwell Park we did lots of activities such as canoeing, archery, climbing and crate stacking, and we did swimming. The activities I enjoyed doing most were archery and the revolving climbing wall. I also hit the cross in the middle of the target! Bullseye!

I really liked it when on the midnight walk we went to the hill and we saw London with all the lights shining on us. This made us feel less homesick.

I did not enjoy the swimming pool because it was too cold. The swimming instructor said it was 24 degrees! More like minus 24! He comes from Sweden and he said he swims in ice lakes. No wonder he said it was lovely and warm!

THE DINING HALL

The thing I really enjoyed was the canoeing. I was a little shaky at first but then I was OK and started to have fun. We played this game called Jumping From The Boat. But first we had to make a raft, which is when you join your boats together and swap boats with each other.

I liked everything. The activities were all exciting and fun. Every night we had a camp fire and the second night we cooked our marshmallows.

In this picture you can see the revolving wall, but my favourite activity was the canoeing. We made a raft and we had to crawl from boat to boat. At first when I got into the canoe boat I was so scared but I got to know how to steer the boat. It was really funny when Ashley T fell in when she was going to number ten boat, because she fell in at number three! Dammy fell in too. Their trousers got soaked. My second best activity was crate stacking where you had to stack as many crates as you can. If you want to get down a man will push the crates and it feels and looks like you're flying!

 THE SCARY REVOLVING WALL!

I liked the archery best because you had to pop a balloon.

You had to pull the string with three fingers and you had to hold your left arm very straight. You pulled with your right arm. I also liked the canoeing because you got wet!

I liked the camp fire a lot because it kept me very warm.
