Below is a short description of what each teacher is responsible for.

Ms Katie Belfield

Ms Belfield is our Nursery teacher. She works with the Nursery Assistant, Sultana Ahmed. There are fifty children in our Nursery (25 for each daily session).

 

Ms Thanuja De Silva has responsibility for LANGUAGE AND LITERACY

Ms De Silva organises and co-ordinates the English work in the school. She orders text books, liases with each key stage and monitors the levels of literacy in the school. She is responsible for the reading scheme and books we use, and continuity throughout the English curriculum.

She currently teaches Year 6.

 

Ms Kathy Doyle is our SPECIAL NEEDS CO-ORDINATOR

Ms Doyle is a very experienced Special Needs Teacher, and she organises and arranges small groups of children who, for one reason or another, need additional help. She works in a small mezzanine room on the middle floor of the school with her groups, and co-ordinates all the Special Needs work.

 

Mr Kurt Engledow

Mr Engledow joined our school in September 2004 and is currently teaching  a Year 4 class of Junior children. He is the co-ordinator for Art throughout the school.

 

Mr Alex Thompson

Mr Thompson joined our school in September 2005 and is currently teaching  a Year 5 class of Junior children.

 

Ms Joanne Fielding has responsibility for RE, CITIZENSHIP and PHSE.

Ms Fielding is responsible for this area of school work. The post involves supervising the teaching and syllabus and curriculum for these areas, producing policy and teaching guidelines, ordering books, charts and equipment and organising the introduction of artefacts for this subject area. She is currently developing the 'Healthy Schools Initiative' in our school. She currently teaches Year 3.

 

Mr Philip Forrester has responsibility for PHYSICAL EDUCATION.

Mr Forrester is responsible for organising the buying and dispersion of new equipment, maintaining the PE apparatus, kits and books, helping staff with problems relating to the teaching of PE, and organising the many sports competitions the school enters into. He currently teaches Year 6.

 

Ms Vicki Haselgrove

Ms Haselgrove joined our school in 2004 and she currently covers PPA time.

 

Ms Carolyn Hill has responsibility for ICT

ICT is assuming a major role in the government's current thinking on the curriculum, and we have received money for additional equipment. Ms Hill maintains the existing computer room, ensures that all equipment is kept in good condition, organises visual media with the children and ensures class computers and electronic whiteboards are working properly. She currently teaches Year 2.

 

Ms Helen Mannoukas

Ms Mannoukas is part of the Special Needs team. She works particularly with children who are 'statemented' for Special Needs.

 

Ms Anita Gorringe, Deputy Headteacher

 Ms Gorringe is currently responsible for a Year 3 class, and, as Deputy Headteacher, has a range of other duties as and responsibilities as well. 

 

Mrs Fiona Nalder has responsibility for SCIENCE.

Mrs Nalder is responsible for organising the buying and dispersion of new equipment in this subject area, maintaining the Science sections in the resources room, helping staff with problems relating to the teaching of Science, and co-ordinating the series of Science topics and studies undertaken by the school. She maintains the Science guidelines booklets.

 

Mr Terry O'Brien has responsibility for MUSIC.

After working for our school for over thirty years, Mr O'Brien retired, but still works with us for two days a week. Mr O'Brien organises much of the music work done in the school, and writes (or makes special arrangements of) all the music for our Christmas concerts, Poetry Week functions, the Choirs, and the Summer shows.

 

Ms Kate Peacock has responsibility for THE FOUNDATION STAGE

Ms Peacock's role is to maintain the policy documents for Art, and maintain the Art Workshop on the top corridor. The school has been involved with all sorts of exciting art projects, in which the children have visited different venues to show their work and take part in competitions. She currently teaches a Reception class.

 

Ms Heather Pindar has responsibility for MATHS

Ms Pindar is currently responsible for organising the Maths curriculum throughout the school, writing the policy, inviting outside specialists in to advise us and organising and co-ordinating the mathematics equipment. She also co-ordinates staff training. She currently teaches Year 1.

 

Ms Michelle Rigby

Ms Rigby is a full time teacher, covering classes under the new PPA Workload Agreement.

 

 Ms Maria Slattery is responsible for GEOGRAPHY

Ms Slattery has this post, arranges the programmes of study in Geography, and co-ordinates the work. She arranges trips to places of interest and is responsible for setting up the exchange visits for studying geography in a school in a different locality. She currently teaches Year 5.

 

 Ms Camilla Spare

Ms Spare is in her second year with our school and currently teaches a Year 4 class.

 

Ms Amanda Smith has responsibility for DESIGN TECHNOLOGY

This is a new post, which Ms Smith has recently been appointed to. She is currently preparing a revised policy and ordering additional equipment. An after school Technology Club is currently being arranged.

She currently teaches Year 2.

 

Ms Chloe Unsworth is responsible for HISTORY

Ms Unsworth is a member of the Key Stage 1 teaching team, and currently teaches a Year 1 class. She co-ordinates History throughout the school.

 

Mrs Rachel Young

Mrs Young is a part-time teacher, who covers classes under the new PPA Workload Agreement.
